Our Story

Founded in 2010, Leading Edge Certification was created by a national Alliance of nonprofits, universities and educational agencies from the worlds of K12 education, higher education and governmental agencies who all share in the commitment to advance student achievement. We saw a unique opportunity to fill a need that hadn’t yet been filled: to provide a national certification program specifically for 21st Century education professionals in educational technology and curriculum innovation.

Alliance Members

Each year of development, a new Leading Edge Alliance provides oversight and guidance in the development of each certification program, as well as provide resources for each certification's working group to develop the curriculum. They also determine the scope and evaluation tools for certification. All core and stakeholder alliance members are eligible to produce training for the certification project that they joined. They must demonstrate the capacity and agree to deliver the training in a manner consistent with the program design. Future groups may also be invited to participate as determined by the advisory board and their willingness to contribute to the project. CUE acts as fiscal agent and manages the certification database.
Each certification will have its own Alliance and Workgroup members. Those that have already begun work are listed below.
